W1, W2 or W3: Choosing the Right Wedge

W1, W2 or W3: Choosing the Right Wedge

W1, W2, W3 wedges — here’s the difference.

The W1

An extremely low effective-bounce wedge, for players who don’t lean the shaft — who lay the face wide open, play high-lofted shots, and need to get under the ball in the firmest, tightest conditions. Recommended only for highly skilled players in the most extreme conditions. Read the full W1 breakdown.

The W2

A mid effective-bounce, mid-sole-angle wedge, built for versatility. Lean the shaft and play lower shots, or open the face and flight it higher — the sole angle supports both. Read the full W2 breakdown.

The W3

A higher effective-bounce wedge with a steeper sole angle optimal for 10–15° of shaft lean at impact. It lets you present optimal shaft lean without the leading edge getting stuck, reducing chunked wedge shots. The W3 is designed to match how you are taught to play your distance-control wedge shots, giving every level of player more confidence into and around the green. Read the full W3 breakdown.
