Why Combo Length is the Smartest Way to Build a Set of Golf Clubs

Why Combo Length is the Smartest Way to Build a Set of Golf Clubs
There are huge advantages to both same length and variable length iron sets. But what if you could take the best of both worlds and blend them into a single set? That’s exactly what we’ve done with our combo length irons—and it’s the most effective way to build a set of golf clubs, hands down.

The Power of Same Length—Where It Matters Most

The biggest benefit of a same length set is consistency in the scoring clubs. These are the most important clubs in your bag when it comes to precision, proximity, and distance control. But full same length sets typically use a 7-iron length across the board, and not everyone is comfortable playing a lob wedge or pitching wedge at that length.
So, we improved it.
We made our scoring clubs—from lob wedge to 8-iron—the same length as a standard 9-iron: 36 inches. Why? Because the 9-iron is almost everyone’s favorite club. It’s a length and feel that golfers trust. By making your scoring clubs all this length, you get the consistency and control of a same length set where it matters most.
That means:
  • Same feel across all scoring clubs
  • Easier to build and trust distance control systems (like the clock system)
  • More consistency in setup, swing, and contact

The Benefits of Variable Length—In the Long Irons

Variable length designs shine in the longer irons. As clubs get longer and lighter, they naturally launch higher with more spin. This helps players hit shots that land softer, carry further, and stop quicker on the greens. We apply this principle to our 7-iron through 4-iron with 3/4 inch gapping.
That means:
  • Easier launch and more spin in long irons
  • More height and softer landings
  • Greater confidence with the clubs that are traditionally hardest to hit

Strategic Loft Gapping for Every Golfer

In most traditional sets, lofts are gapped at 3 to 4 degrees throughout the entire set. That creates a problem on both ends of the skill spectrum.
At one end, elite players are so good at controlling dynamic loft that they don’t need tight gapping—they can produce whatever trajectory they want with any club. On the other end, less skilled players often struggle to control dynamic loft and end up producing the same launch conditions with multiple clubs. For example, their 7, 8, and 9-irons may all go the same distance.
We fixed this by spreading the lofts further apart in our combo length set:
  • 5-degree gaps in the scoring clubs
  • 4-degree gaps in the long irons
This improves performance for every player.
For less skilled players, wider gaps mean they’re less likely to accidentally hit multiple clubs the same distance. For highly skilled players, the wider gaps don’t affect their ability to hit precise numbers—they’re already in control. What this setup does for everyone is create smarter spacing, clearer roles for each club, and better use of your bag.
With our combo length loft gapping, you only need 10 clubs to cover the range from 19 to 60 degrees. Most traditional sets need 11 or 12. That means you free up 3-4 extra slots in your bag.
You now have more freedom to build your tee-game setup your way:
  • Carry a driver, a mini driver, and a 3-wood
  • Or a driver, 3-wood, and 5-wood
  •  Or a driving iron and a hybrid
No compromises. Just options.
More tee shot options = more confidence on the most important shot in golf.

The Wedge Revolution: More Spin, More Control

Our wedge heads are 280g, much lighter than traditional wedges (which are often 300-310g). This isn’t just a spec change—it’s a performance revolution.
Lighter wedges mean:
  • Lower smash factor = more speed into the ball
  • More speed = more friction = more spin
  • More confidence to be aggressive on shots from 30-50 yards
  • More control out of the rough with fewer flyers
  • No need to manipulate the club to generate spin or height
It gives you precision, softness, and stopping power that heavy wedge heads can’t match.

One Swing, One Feel, Total Consistency

Practicing with a combo length set reinforces the same motion, same feel, and same rhythm across all scoring clubs. That consistency doesn’t exist in a traditional set. In variable length irons, even if you feel like you’re making the same swing, you’re not—because the club lengths and head weights change everything.
Combo length removes that variability and gives you full trust in your short irons.

The Best of Both Worlds

Combo length gives you:
  • The precision of same length in your scoring clubs
  • The forgiveness and height of variable length in your long irons
  • Smarter loft spacing to avoid overlap
  • Lighter wedges that spin more and offer more control
  • More bag flexibility to carry the clubs you actually want

It is, without a doubt, the ultimate way to build a set of clubs. And it can help 100% of golfers get better every time they play.

This isn’t a compromise. It’s a breakthrough.

Welcome to combo length.
